RULES FOR VISITORS STAYING IN THE ISLAMIC CENTER OF
MANHATTAN
Visitors to the Islamic Center should follow the principles established by the Qur’an and
the Sunnah as understood by Ahl-Sunnah Wal-Jamaah
1. Permission should be obtained to stay in the Islamic Center of Manhattan from the
members of the Board or the Executive Committee.
2. Please enter your names, phone numbers car plate number and addresses in the visitors
registration form.
3. The stay in the Islamic Center shall not exceed five nights.
4. No more than ten people are allowed to sleep in the Islamic center.
5. Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the building and parking lot of the Islamic Center.
6. Under no circumstances should the Islamic Center be left open unattended.
7. At least one brother should stay in the Islamic Center. If no one plans to stay in the center
the Center should be locked in security reasons.
8. No one is allowed to sleep in the main prayer hall of the Islamic Center.
9. Fans, lights, and water should be turned off when no one is using that particular room.
10. Do not open windows or leave outside doors open as the air conditioning is set to
automatic mode.
11. Do not try to adjust the hearing or cooling thermostat at any time.
12. If you see any suspicious activity by strangers during the day or night, first call any
member if the Board of Directors or Executive Committee immediately, IF you cannot
get hold of anyone, ball the police from the library or the kitchen phones.

KITCHEN
This kitchen is mainly for warming the food brought in from outside and not for cooking
meals
1. The kitchen is a fire hazard. Do not leave the kitchen while warming the food.
2. Any smoke or excessive heat will trigger the automatic fire sprinkler system in the
building. Please do not be careless or neglectful. Any damage to the building will be your
responsibility.
3. Turn off all stove burners and oven after use.
4. Before leaving, thoroughly clean all appliances including refrigerator, stove top, under
the burners, oven broiler etc. buy a bottle of kitchen cleaner and Ajax cleaning powder
from the local store and use it.
5. Clean the kitchen sink with Ajax powder. Use the disposal with running cold water.
Clean the kitchen countertops. Also clean the floor thoroughly with mops.
6. Dispose of all the trash tied in plastic bags in the outside trash bins located in the parking
lot.
BATHROOM
1. Clean the shower area, shower door and walls. It should be free of soap build up.
2. Clean bathroom sink and floor. Never smoke in the bathroom.
3. Do not wash dirty clothes in the bathroom. There is a laundromat nearby.
4. Do not dry clothes outside of the Islamic Center.
5. Do not use sister’s bathroom at any time.
Please inform any member of the Executive Committee before leaving
town so they can lock the Islamic Center for security reasons.
